Author Interview with Annie Buff

Author Interview with Annie Buff
Name: Annie Buff
What first inspired you to write? I did it on a whim, never really thinking I could do it.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? It’s crazy where I find inspiration. Sometimes it can be as simple as a song o  the radio.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? I’m not sure I’ve had one yet.
Are you indie or traditionally published? I started with a traditional publisher but I’ve been an Indie for 9 books
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? Yes and I love being an indie
What are you working on now? One immortal and a biker
What is your most recent/upcoming release? Her Perfect Mate

Author Interview with John McKay

Author Interview with John McKay
Name: John Murray McKay
What first inspired you to write? I get inspiration through cinema. Especially of the master Tarantino. His usage of color and contrast is amazing. And the fact that he values the role of strong female. He is my main source of inspiration.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? Lack of sleep and too much porn? Kidding. I often see images on TV and film and then start building the idea from there. How I do it is a mystery? It’s a complete and utter zoo up here in my mind.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? Will you co write with me? Sweetie dahling no, you are old enough and I’m sure you wear socks with your shoes. Stand on your own feet and write the damn thing. That and fan fiction writers who think they are the cat’s whiskers. Hint, they simple aren’t.
Are you indie or traditionally published? Hybrid if that makes sense. I am working through an Indy publisher ( KCeditions) and they are amazing. I have been very blessed to know them.
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? Tried submitting to the bigger publishers but my books are too far left field for their tastes. It’s okay though, no hard feelings. I’ll take the long way around.
What are you working on now? Working on a standalone novel where a girl and her demonically possessed manual of engineering must defend her town against the forces of evil. Weird but par for the course for me I guess.
What is your most recent/upcoming release? I just released ‘The Venom Protocols’ Here is the blurb: “You should have left me alone.”
Charlotte Corday was once called the most dangerous woman on the planet by the FBI until she retired. But it's not so easy to remain retired when the past is determined to drag her back into the hell she wanted to leave behind her.
To uncover the origins of the mysterious Valkyrie program, Charlotte fights through her own dark past, dredged up by those determined to keep her out of retirement... or out of the business permanently... and to find solace in her own razor blade filled mind.
Her own words—her own warning—will come to haunt them.
They should have listened.

Name: Rusty Trimble

What first inspired you to write? My oldest son is Autistic and while I had always wanted to be an author, the fact that he hated reading, inspired me to write stories with him in it and the rest is history!
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? A variety of places.  Many of them come from speaking with my children, a few of them are based on old video games with permission of the original owner.

Are you indie or traditionally published? Both, but primarily Indie for the most part.

A now former friend suggested Natalie Goldbergs “Writing Down the Bones.”

Hmmm.   “Do you know <insert famous writer here>?”
Are you indie or traditionally published?  Indie

Author Interview with Darlene Tallman

Author Interview with Darlene Tallman
Name: Darlene Tallman
Pen Name if different:  It’s all me!
What first inspired you to write?  I’ve had a vivid imagination for most of my life, daydreaming whenever I liked a show and wanted “more”.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? My inspiration comes from every little thing – could be a song on the radio, something someone says to me, something I see when driving around. The proverbial “what if” muse pops up and then? The characters start talking.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? I don’t have any one question I dislike above another, because even if they’re “the same” as I’ve answered before, depending on the audience, they may not know my “why” and it lets them get to know me a bit better.
Are you indie or traditionally published?  Indie.
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?  Nope.
What are you working on now? A secret squirrel project with three other authors, plus I’m continuing the Rebel Guardians MC series with Liberty Parker, and have just started writing an MM book with author Maria Vickers.
What is your most recent/upcoming release?
Hmm, most recent would be book four of the Rebel Guardians MC series, Smokey & Bandit.

But I’m also a part of an anthology that goes live on 6/1:

Author Interview with Riya Anne Polcastro
Name: Riya Anne Polcastro
What first inspired you to write? There have always been stories inside of me that will claw their way out if I don’t. It’s a necessity.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? I don’t. They just happen. At any given time I have multiple stories that are just developing in my mind on their own accord. The problem is when am I going to get around to letting them out and writing them down? It makes it hard to focus on one, because the others need to be told just as badly as whatever my current work in progress is.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? Why aren’t you more successful or famous? Some people seem to think if you don’t have a multi-book deal with movie options straight out of the gait you should just give up. They can bugger off. Wait, is bugger FB appropriate? Feel free to edit out if not 😉
Are you indie or traditionally published? Indie baby!
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? I tried for years to get a traditional agent and publisher. At this point it seems you really have to know someone to break through, no matter how good your storytelling skills. Especially with literary fiction. And even more so with the really dark transgressive stuff I usually write.
What are you working on now? Dentata. Also known as The Novel Formerly Known as Teeth. It’s a dark transgressive novel about a sweet girl next door type who gets the best possible revenge.
What is your most recent/upcoming release? I hope to have Dentata out in August of this year. My most recent release was a narrative non-fiction/memoir about the journey of living with an undiagnosed auto-immune disorder and how doctors basically tried to kill me through neglect and some pitiful misdiagnoses. It’s called Death by Gluten: How Undiagnosed Celiac Almost Cost Me My Life.

Author Interview with Amy K. McClung

Author Interview with Amy K. McClung
Name: Amy K McClung
What first inspired you to write? My husband. Back in 2011, I’d lost my job of 11 years and I was stressed and anxious about trying to find a new one. My husband, Daniel, called me on lunch to check in on me and see how my day was going. I began telling him about a show I’d been watching and how the storyline was super predictable and the way I would’ve written it differently. He suggested I write my own story. So that afternoon I started writing a story about a teenage werewolf and, even after starting a new job a few months later, I continued writing. Six months later I had a two-hundred and fifty page manuscript. I began looking up how to self publish and the rest is history.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? Many of the stories in my books are based on my own experiences, the characters are based on people I know. When I’m having trouble coming up with ideas or scenes, I use music to inspire me. I have two books based on songs. My book Promises in Stone was inspired by Taylor Swift’s Love Story. Originally it was written as a 10K word novel for an anthology but when the anthology didn’t happen, I expanded it to release as a novella. Across the Way, one of my Adult novels, was inspired by a Taylor Hicks song titled Places I’ve Been. Apparently, I’m inspired by Taylors!
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? Mostly when people say, “So, tell me about your books,” because even though I wrote them that question makes my mind go completely blank. I try to explain the story without giving away too much and end up talking in circles!
Are you indie or traditionally published? Both. I started as an indie/self-published author and I have six YA novels, in Paranormal and Contemporary Romance, which are indie/self-published. I became traditionally published with Hot Tree Publishing and have released six books with them in NA Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy, Adult Romance, and M/M Romance genres.

What are you working on now? Currently I’m working on the editing process of my fourth and final release in my NA Contemporary Romance series. I’m also working on book 2, The Glowing Sphere, for my Crispin Sinclair Chronicles. I have a few other books in the works as well, mostly just ideas that I’m trying to work out the details on.
What is your most recent/upcoming release? My most recent release was in March. My first Romantic Comedy titled A Little Spark. It’s about a badass female firefighter who finds her match in wit and snark. My next release is coming in August. It’s called Twisted Fate and it is Book 4 of The Southern Devotion Series, my NA Contemporary Romance Series. This will be the final installment of that series.
