Author Interview with Kami Larke aka Kathleen Eyke

Author Interview With Kathleen Eyke

Name: Kathleen Eyke

Pen Name if different: Kami Larke

What first inspired you to write? I've always wanted to write, even when I was in elementary school. With the Southern Family Ties series, it was because I was tired of reading books where I had to keep a score card to keep up with who was in bed with whom and was tired of dodging clothing flying at me from all directions. With the Kami Larke books (which are NOT clean and wholesome, hence the use of a pen name to keep the two separate), I wanted to challenge myself and set out of my comfort zone.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? The Southern Family Ties series started out very loosely based on stories told to me about life in my area by one of the oldest residents of my town before she passed away. The characters just sorta took on a life of their own and started demanding their own books. I’m now up to 11 books in the series, with 3 written, 2 more outlined and the premise for the rest written down.

The contemporary books are drawn from life.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer? I hate when people ask what I do with my time. I’m forever writing, or doing something writing related. I may look like I’m surfing the internet, but usually it’s some form of research, name searches, research into historical times, looking into the occult, the list goes on.

Are you indie or traditionally published? My #Southernfamilyties series is traditionally published, while my Kami Larke work is indie for now.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? I had done indie publishing before I was traditionally published, but I think having a publisher has worked out for the best for me. I have learned so much that I never would have learned on my own.

What are you working on now? To the delight of my #sporkarmy, I am working on book 4 in the #southernfamilyties series, which is about Jerome. I also have two books under Kami Larke that are finished. I’m working on the sequel to Blindsided, a wrestling book, and surprisingly, a children’s book.

What is your most recent/upcoming release?

I just had a book release In August, for Family Lessons, which is about Edmund, Emma’s brother. I also just released Her Only Defense under the pen name Kami Larke last week. Both are available on amazon and KU.

I have one book in the #southernfamilyties series pending, Family Values (Liz). Family Secrets (Jerome) is in the process of being written. The next Kami Larke book, Blindsided, was just sent to the editor.

Name:  My name is AC JADE, born and raised from the Philippines.
What first inspired you to write? ~ What inspired me to write is my travels. I’ve been to so many countries and counting. I’ve met so many people that made me come who I am today. They are my inspiration and I’m always humble and grateful to be part of their lives.

Author Interview with Derek Masters

Author Interview with Derek Masters
Name:

Derek Masters

What first inspired you to write?

Writing is something that has always interested me. I can remember being in grade school and filling notebooks with all kinds of stories from different worlds. A lot of the stories back then revolved around friends from school or television shows that I was into.  Of course, the stories back then were FAR different than what I write today, but looking back on it, it’s easy to see that my writing was always a little on the dark side.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories?

There isn’t really one correct answer to this question. I look for inspiration everywhere. The only thing that is certain is that I always put at least a little bit of me in the story somewhere.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer?

Being a fairly new writer, I haven’t really received a lot of questions about being a writer. I’ve just received the typical how did you learn how to do it or who showed you the ropes? In all honesty, I enjoy receiving messages from both readers and aspiring writers and I’m happy to give what little advice I’m able to.

Are you indie or traditionally published?

Complete Indie

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?

No, and I’m not ENTIRELY CONVINCED that I’d like to. Sure, I’d love to be contacted by a publishing house because my work is getting noticed, but I like having control over what I write.

What are you working on now?

I’m working on a dark romance that I hope will be a lot different than what’s out there today. It’s currently Untitled but I’m very excited about it.

What is your most recent/upcoming release?

Vivian Ward and I co-wrote a book called “Only You.” It’s a MFM menage romance with a twist. Again, I think it’s unlike any other menage romance titles out there currently and I’m interested to see what the readers think about it.

Interviewing Authors with Lilith Tempest

Author Interview with Lilith Tempest
Name: Lilith Tempest
Pen Name if different: See above lol
What first inspired you to write? What started me writing was a FB competition for a signed copy of one of my favourite book. To win I had to write what I would do if I had a sex slave for a day, so I did. Then I wrote the next day and the next and 4 months later I finished my first book. Now I can’t seem to stop.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? I honestly don’t know, some of my ideas just come to me as I’m writing and others will be an any odd time, driving, shopping, cleaning, the amount of emails I send to myself is shocking lol.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer?  I hate being asked what my favourite book is or who my favourite Author is and that is because there is never ever just one and it can change along with my mood.
Are you indie or traditionally published? Indie
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? Nope
What are you working on now? A secret (muahahaha)
What is your most recent/upcoming release? I just released my first book The Switch in August.

Author Interview with K.M. Keeton

Author Interview with K.M. Keeton
Name:  K.M. Keeton
What first inspired you to write?
It started out as a way to write my own ending because the ones that I was reading didn't quite hit the spot.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories?
Basically everything is inspiration. A picture, a sentence in another book, something I see while I'm out in town. Once I thought up a short while I was on vacation in West Virginia. We were driving down a back road and we were surrounded by trees...it just came to me while I zoned out watching the view go by.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer?
I honestly haven't been a published writer long enough to hate anything being asked.
Are you indie or traditionally published?
Indie.
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?
Nope.
What are you working on now?
Several things… it's a long list.  Her Charitable Confection, A collection of short stories, Handyman, A summer romance short...
What is your most recent/upcoming release?
Sinful Angel
Sara ~
I moved to this small town in the middle of nowhere to get away from his kind. The classic bad boy, the ones that make me go weak in the knees.. He was the very definition. Will I be able to learn from my past and resist him?

Vince ~
If I ever had a teacher as hot as her I would have found a way to stay in school all those years ago. Did I mention those mile long legs in those fuck me heels she wears? When I get her in my bed that’s all I will insist she wears, and those black rimmed glasses that sit atop the bridge of her button nose. Fuck! I was going to make her mine, and I won't stop till she is.

For ages 18 and up. Strong sexual content, and violence.

Author Interview with Mickey Bentley

Author Interview with Ed Bar/Mickey Bentley

Name: Mickey Bentley

Pen name if different: Ed Bar

What first inspired you to write? The first book I ever read was The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz. I was a child when I read it, but that book was the first thing to inspire me to write. I wanted to be able to spin a story that would one day rival that of my favorite author. There have been many things and people in which I drew inspiration, but that rainy day, when I finished the last page and closed the book, was the first and most profound.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? I start with the protagonist, dwelling on him or her until they are well defined, their personalities, physical traits, what type of life they live. Then I imagine the type of people they have around them, influencing them either positively or negatively. Once I can see these people and their surroundings clearly, I think about what a day in the life of that protagonist might be like, and I start writing. I never build a story line. If I know what is going to happen every step of the way, or how the story will end, I will become bored and I will not be able to write. Instead, I let the characters tell me their story.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer? When are you going to get a real job? Unfortunately, I keep myself locked away, writing, proofreading or editing, most of every day. My friends and family have the opinion that I sit around all day doing nothing, wasting time while I play on my laptop, when I could be out looking for a forty-hour per week job.

Are you indie or traditionally published? I am an indie author.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? I had originally thought to publish traditionally, but changed my mind while shopping around. I witnessed too many traditionally published authors leaving to publish on their own, tired of not having enough control over their books. I researched indie publishing and decided that it would be a better fit for me, being that I don’t want people who might not have even read my book telling me that I need to change the story to suit their statistics.

What are you working on write now? I have several projects going right now, but most of my focus is on a novella called The Silly Murders. This is a horror story centering on a performance clown that is dying of a brain tumor. After he catches his wife in bed with a previous client, he snaps, losing his grip with reality and goes on a murder spree.

What is your most recent/upcoming release?

My next release will be a horror anthology titled Insanity. This will be a collection of thirteen short, interlocking stories of madness in its purest form.

Author Interview with Selene Kallan

Author Interview with Selene Kallan
Name:  Selene Kallan
What first inspired you to write?
Reading I’d say. Also daydreaming without control, I’m prone to have long and thorough talks with myself. The stories just roamed inside my head asking to get out. And writing them down seemed like a better option than an asylum.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories?
Some just hit me while I’m doing anything, like cooking or watching a movie. Others I’ve dreamed. There is this one I’m working on that was a rather disturbing and dark dream, not my genre to read or write but I’ll give it a try.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer?
So, what do you really do for living? For me it immediately implies that the person who asked is minimizing what being a writer means. I know this is a tough world and one must always have another income, but the way is said can be really insulting.
Are you indie or traditionally published?
Indie and proud.
Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?
Yes, but I didn’t get a reply.
What are you working on now?
Uff, where do I start? The second part of The Immortal Heritage Saga, Moonlight. The third part of the same saga. A retelling of several fairy tales, 4 more books of my Universe The Obscure World. A sci-fi story, and a thriller.
What is your most recent/upcoming release?
Starlight (Immortal Heritage #1). You can get an excerpt here https://www.instafreebie.com/free/Yx8Yp

Excerpt from Her Only Defense:

“He asked me out,” Abby shouted in the confines of her car. Jade was on the line, the call routed through her car’s sound system.

“You don’t have to holler, babe,” Jade replied. “So, did you say yes?”

“I don’t know,” Abby answered miserably. “He says he is picking me up at six.”

“Then I’d say you said yes,” Jade answered, a slight hint of laughter in her voice.

“How did this happen?” Abby wailed.

“Sweetie, how does anything happen in life? Count your blessings that you got someone who has all his own teeth and doesn’t smell like kimchi.”

“You’re no help,” Abby groused as she pulled into the parking garage at her apartment.

“Not trying to be, love,” Jade said cheerily. “Do you need me to come over and help you pick out an outfit?”

“Oh, shit, I don’t even know where he’s taking me.” Abby felt like pounding her head against the steering wheel.

“Okay, so that is a definite yes, you need help.” Jade laughed. “I’ll be there in ten.”

“Thank you,” Abby said in a weak voice before ending the call and getting out of the car.
