Author Interview with Kathleen Eyke

Author Interview With Kathleen Eyke

Name: Kathleen Eyke

Pen Name if different: Kami Larke

What first inspired you to write? I’m not really sure. With the Southern Family Ties series, it was because I was tired of reading books where I had to keep a score card to keep up with who was in bed with whom and was tired of dodging clothing flying at me from all directions. With the Kami Larke books (which are NOT clean and wholesome, hence the use of a pen name to keep the two separate), I wanted to challenge myself and set out of my comfort zone.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? The Southern Family Ties series started out very loosely based on stories told to me about life in my area by one of the oldest residents of my town before she passed away. The characters just sorta took on a life of their own and started demanding their own books. I’m now up to 11 books in the series, with 3 written, 2 more outlined and the premise for the rest written down.

The contemporary books are drawn from life.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer? I hate when people ask what I do with my time. I’m forever writing, or doing something writing related. I may look like I’m surfing the internet, but usually it’s some form of research, name searches, research into historical times, looking into the occult, the list goes on.

Are you indie or traditionally published? My #Southernfamilyties series is traditionally published, while my Kami Larke work is indie for now.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? I had done indie publishing before I was traditionally published, but I think having a publisher has worked out for the best for me. I have learned so much that I never would have learned on my own.

What are you working on now? To the delight of my #sporkarmy, I am working on book 4 in the #southernfamilyties series, which is about Jerome. I also have two books under Kami Larke that are finished and one is set to release in the next couple weeks.

What is your most recent/upcoming release?

I just had a book release yesterday, for Family Lessons, which is about Edmund, Emma’s brother.

I have one book in the #southernfamilyties series pending, Family Values (Liz). I also have my indie book written under the name Kami Larke, Her Only Defense pending. The second book in that group, Blindsided, was just sent to the editor.

Author Interview with Jade Royal

Name: Jade Royal

What first inspired you to write?

When I was wee girl, stories would pop into my head all the time. I’d see movies and want to change the endings, read books and want to change some of the facts, and as I got older, the call to put those stories down on paper only grew more intense. My ability to bring life to words was noticed by my teachers but they always wanted to shape my story into something it wasn’t. I often rebelled because this particular teacher wasn’t giving constructive criticism, they were changing the entire story to fit the norm. That’s something I’ve never been good at. Because of that fact, I stopped writing for about 6 years.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories?

Besides picture prompts, dreams, and other people’s experiences, I also sit and think about typical scenarios and how to flip them into something more out of the norm. Then I build a story out of it.

What is your least favorite part about being a writer?

The two things I hate most about being a writer is the lack of time that I can set aside to work. A lot of the business aspects can tie up my “free time” that I want to spend writing. The second thing that I hate is that sometimes I want my story to come flying from my fingertips much faster than I’ll ever be able to type. lol I get so excited about the storyline that I need it immediately. I think it’s that part of me that craves instant gratification.

Are you indie or traditionally published?

#Indieandproud

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?

No. Well… does my short story and poetry count from my childhood? lmao

What are you working on now?

4 books from my Limits of Love series, 3 anthologies, 1 book from a new series, and a stand alone… I think that’s everything :)

What is your most recent/upcoming release?

My next book in the Limits of Love series, Tethered Trust, and one of the anthologies. There’s a possible third but I need to meet my existing deadlines.

Author Interview with CJ Cassidy

Name: CJ Cassidy

What first inspired you to write? I wrote a novel 12 years ago when I was 50 and was compelled to publish it. That first novel was picked up by a survivor of abuse and she asked me to write her biography. That novel was published as; “A Tortured Soul – The Unauthorized Biography of Nicholas Anderson” The subject matter became my trademark.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? Most of my novels are based on actual events, but I tend to write fiction about the human condition. It just so happens that my ‘characters’ like sex!

What question do you hate the most about being a writer?#1 hated question; “Have I read anything you’ve written?”
My answer; “If you have to ask…”

Are you indie or traditionally published? I am self-published.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing?Yes! I have a file cabinet filled with rejection letters, some manuscripts were returned unopened!

What are you working on now?I am presently working on the “ClownTown” series. It is the continuing story of a small town in which half the townsfolk wear clown make-up for no apparent reason, they are NOT clowns in any sense of the word. The ‘Clownies’ are hated by the ‘Norms’ and the series is a thinly veiled social commentary with a murder mystery as the prevailing story line. I’m hoping to sell it as a web series.

What is your most recent/upcoming release?Recently, I released the biography of a porn princess titled; “Innocence Lost – From Tragedy to Triumph” and;
“ClownTown II – The Return of Bo Rodgers” is slated for a mid-August release.
And;
My executive producer is currently trying to get ‘A Tortured Soul…’ made into an independent film; “The Secret Diary of Katherine Stark”

What first inspired you to write? I’ve always loved dark fantasy – the darker, the better. A few things triggered Hunter’s Moon. First, the passing of my beloved cat Sean (my Familiar) Second, I wrote two mini-theses, which were based on my path. They’re titled Perception and Connected Perception and are included in Hunter’s Moon. One is at the beginning and one at the end. These are the keys that triggered my story. Lastly, the next cat to follow was a feral. His name is Jax. My Sean “networked” from window to window each time that he had spotted him. When Sean past onto the “Summerland”, I decided to trap Jax and give him a home. This was a two-month process. His feral demeanor fed into the darkness of my story and my dreams as well.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories?  My spiritual path )O( , the Phases of the Moon, Thunderstorms, Dreams, Dream Interpretation, Dream Control & music.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer? I haven’t come across that question….yet J

Are you indie or traditionally published? Indie – I prefer to have full control over everything I create.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? No

What are you working on now? The second in my trilogy: Mia’s Moon. The third is titled; The Moon Writer

What is your most recent/upcoming release? The first book in my trilogy is Hunter’s Moon, which was released on November 19th 2016.

Author Interview with Ngozi Ebubedike

Author Interview with Ngozi Ebubedike
Name …Ngozi Ebubedike
What first inspired you to write? Books and my love for reading, I’m happier when my head is buried inside a book more than in socializing with friends. Being an introvert, I would rather write my thoughts and remarkable events in my life down in a diary than share with friends.
Growing up I have pieces of my life written in several note books with the intent to turn them into a book some day.
How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? Personal experiences, and encounter with people. I was a journalist for years, my last job was with a romance magazine, and when I left I had a file bursting with romance stories I gathered from interviews, life encounters and experiences of people around me.
What question do you hate the most about being a writer? When people ask me, “Don’t you think you’re wasting your time being a writer, it won’t fetch you money?” as if making money is my sole reason for writing.
Are you indie or traditional published? Indie.
Have you ever tried the other side of publishing? Yes, after months of waiting for publisher’s assessment, I finally got a letter with a glowing compliment for my writing skill and an apology for their inability to sign me on.
For years I buried my writing urge and concentrated on my journalism work. Only when I retired from journalism did I take up writing again. Thank God for the revolution that brought in indie publishing.
What are you working on now? I have two finished books that are on editing phases. However, I’m working on a fictionally but bible based story about Hannah and Elkanah, their love life and faith in God.
What is your most recent/upcoming release? Broken, is my most recent book. It’s a story I have carried around for years, part of the original story was published in two different magazines years back.
The story is based on a true life experience of a prostitute. Eighty percent of the book is written in pidgin English, a local corruption of the English language considered as the language of the ghetto in my country Nigeria.
My next book will be out in a month’s time.

Author Interview with Alicia Sparks

Author Interview with Alicia Sparks

Name: Alicia Sparks

Pen Name if different: Natasha Steele

What first inspired you to write? I think I’ve always been a writer, honestly. I see the entire world as a story, more specifically a love story. I like telling stories about people and the things they go through as well as adding some spice to their relationships.

How do you come up with the ideas for your stories? From everywhere! I tell people if you’ve ever pissed me off or turned me on, you’ll show up in a story eventually.

What question do you hate the most about being a writer? Writer’s block!

Are you indie or traditionally published? I have been traditionally published for about twelve years, but I recently received all the rights back to my books, so I removed them from Amazon to give me a chance to revise and re release as an indie.

Have you ever tried the other style of publishing? Not yet, but I am venturing into the indie world soon.

What are you working on now? I’m working on the “true” stories of Natasha Steele’s sexual encounters with various men. She’s 40 and fabulous and is coming to terms with the fact that even though she’s older, she’s still very sexually active and sexual in nature.

What is your most recent/upcoming release? Unfortunately, I don’t have a new release, but I am working on several short stories at the moment. I am also working with other writers to edit their work.

Cover reveal!!!

OMG I am having a cover reveal on August 11th for the cover of my new book, Family Lessons! This is a don't miss event with an amazing lineup of authors. Pop over to my facebook page at www.facebook.com/kathleen.eyke.southerfamilyties for more details!

Scheduled to release this month on August 25th, Family Lessons. It’s a continuation of my first book, Family Fortune, which released last November and follows Emma's brother Edmund on his path to life, love and everlasting happiness. Here’s an excerpt from it:

Afternoon, Edmund. What can I do you for?” Deputy Charles Norton asked, lazily starting to swing his legs off the corner of the desk.
No, I don’t need anything. I just wanted a quiet place to sit and wait.”

Oh, that’s right. Your schoolteacher is coming today.” Norton put his feet back up on the corner of the desk.

She is not my schoolteacher,” Edmund ground out again. Really, it was getting on his nerves how people kept insinuating he owned the girl. He’d never even laid eyes on her.

Well, she sure ain’t no one else’s. ‘Sides, it was your idea to bring her here. Seems to me that kinda makes her yours. Or at least your responsibility.” Norton took another puff on his pipe.
Edmund grimaced slightly. Put that way, he could see why people were saying she was his schoolteacher. He pulled his pocket watch out and glanced at it again. Half past two. The damn stage was really late today. As he started to sit, he heard a noise out in the street. Crossing to the door, he opened it just in time to see the stage come around the bend and roll into town, drawing to a stop in front of Harlen’s bar.
He stepped out into the sunlight as the dust settled. The coachman called out to him as he approached. “Special delivery for you, Mr. Johnston!” Edmund closed his eyes and breathed deeply, trying to control his ire. Even the stage driver was doing it!
The man riding shotgun scrambled down to set the step in place and open the door. A gloved lady’s hand appeared, accepting the offered assistance to descend from the carriage. Men lined the street, jostling each other to get the first glimpse of the new woman in town.
Edmund hated to admit he was one of the ones holding his breath. He wasn’t sure if he wanted her to be attractive or homely. Edmund walked around the back of the stage and cleared his throat.  Just then, the schoolteacher stepped down gracefully from the coach, and looked around.
She was stunning and dressed like a bloody debutante. He felt a wave of trepidation roll through him. She was going to be trouble. At the very least, she was going to be miserable. This town couldn’t give her what she was used to back East. She’d be running back there in no time flat. Had he not explained things to the professor clearly? He needed someone who was going to be dedicated to teaching, someone who would help make the town more attractive to prospective wives and mothers. Not someone who was likely to be prospecting for a husband.

Come by on the 11th to see the cover!!
